October StyleScopes By Alice Wylde
The Full Moon at the start of the month requires greater precision in our actions and a tempering of our moods. In order to understand why we go after the things that we want or desire we need to understand who we are at our core.
The Four of Wands symbolizes our home life and by building stability you also build freedom to live the way you want to live. Have you built a strong foundation to ground your ideal life on? Is it stable enough to hold your vision? This card reminds us to ground ourselves into our mind, body and spirit so we feel secure and safe. What elements from your own wardrobe assist you in feeling secure? For example, I feel most confident wearing high waisted jeans and a heeled boot. This internal processing of addressing what makes us feel great pulls us inward to fight for ourselves and our needs. There is an element of needing to survive, but also a refinement in how we go about doing this. There are no shortcuts along the way and everything must play out in its entirety in order to close the loop on the cycle. New structures and mindsets will help us rebuild., so pour the mystical caffeine and stay awake!
The Hierophant card calls you to honor the rituals and traditions within your life. Cultivate a group of people that assist you in broadening your sense of vision and your knowledge as you head down a mystical journey to better understand your higher self. Wardrobe wise I recommend that you start mixing in the layers and accessories that your future self would be drawn to. The Six of Swords is all about transition and letting go.
While change is not always uncomfortable it is necessary otherwise we just continue to relive an episode of Groundhog’s Day over and over. If you feel adrift this month, remember that you are your own center, giving you all the base you need to grow.
Go ahead and ride the waves into this new and exciting time! Release any old clothing (along with it's bad ju-ju,) that is just hanging out in your closet such as ex-boyfriend's sweatshirts, pieces from jobs you will never work at again and beat up jeans.
Following the theme of home, take time to implement some Feng Shui to feel good. Decorate your door or create a fall altar are some easy ideas. Give yourself plenty of rest this month and maybe even watch all your old favorite movies.
As things begin to shift and change, work with the stone Rhodochrosite. This is the crystal for anyone that is grieving the loss of a situation, relationship or even an outdated sense of self. Slide this one in your bra daily to soften any sadness that’s hanging out in your heart. Don’t forget to recharge it in the Full Moons as this month has two! Above all else as everything changes remember: You have got this babe! Don’t be afraid as the universe is pushing you in the right direction. Get ready to shine your light into the world. As you dress each day this month, dress your inner warrior badass. Hold your gaze in the mirror and say with moxie, “You fuckin’ got this.”
The changing of the leaves signals the start of pumpkin spiced everything! Including our wardrobes. The migration of tank tops to the bottom of our drawers and the season of sweaters begins. Choose a day to do an overhaul and start packing away those articles that you know you won't need for another six months. Take stock of things you may be missing like gloves, scarves and nice warm wool socks.
As you begin to notice the holes in your wardrobe you might want to consider what you want to manifest throughout the fall season and set the intention you want to embody. Do you want to feel cozy? Secure? Maybe you want to create room for self improvement? Or do you want to add a solid dose of fiery fun to your outfits? The articles of clothing we choose and their materials can assist us to embody the vibrations we are looking to create. Take a moment to think of who you want to emerge as in the spring and how that might feel. Those are the feelings to embody each day in the coming months.
In order to assist you I have gone ahead and curated a mini style guide for you to refer to when you want to dress with certain intentions. Take the following suggestions and mix them with your personal style sauce.
Denim allows one to feel classic, playful and depending on the finish, casually elegant.
Woolens embody that home hearth feeling of warmth and wholesomeness.
Faux Fur screams rockstar like energy with a playful attitude
Flannels reminds us of rest and carry earthy vibrations that ground us into our physical bodies.
Leathers or imitations tend to empower our inner badass and awaken a dynamic element within us.
Silks and satins can trigger inner sensuality and and add elegance to any outfit.
Cotton is nurturing and supportive of a self improvement path whether knowledge or spiritual based.
To truly get grounded in your intentions take a good look at the bottoms that you choose to build your daily wardrobe from. Pants or skirts cover almost all of our lower body and literally our root chakra, so it is important that this piece of clothing truly carries the vibrations you want to embody.
Think of the tops we wear as a billboard that announces our intentions to the world. Look closely at the art and script written across your clothing. Is it in line with the future you are creating. Even if the item doesn't bare any visible message, is it the right cut, color and vibration?
The jacket, sweater or even cape you select turns up the volume of your style flavor as the icing on the cake. As everything must be built on a strong and solid foundation volume of your style flavor as the icing on the cake. Is it conveying your message?
We come to the shoes you select. They set the tone for your ensemble maybe even more than our bottoms, think how you feel in a heeled shoe compared to a flat compared to your sneakers. Do you feel cool? Casual? Sophisticated? Artsy? Woodsy?
Scarves and hats also allow you to ask yourself, "Who do I want to be?" They are the sprinkles on your frosting and often the element of surprise that lends your outfit some sass. Select handbags that match the task you are headed out the door for. Think small clutch for evening and a larger bag for daytime or work.
A fully layered ensemble that is beautifully styled embodies a strong vibration that a similar look that consists of just a top and bottom would be lacking. That is why stylists reach for belts, bags, shoes, hats and jewelry when dressing someone. These elements help to fully bring their vision of who that person is to life.
Take the time to do this to your wardrobe and fully embody your desires with your styled intentions.
