The Female Gaze: Q&A Interview Series By Tianna Andrea & Tushiya Hunter
Intersectional Feminism is the form of feminism that stands for the rights and empowerment of all women. It is the acknowledging of differences amongst women, including identities, sexuality, economic status, nationality and religion.
“All too often the focus of mainstream feminism is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few.“ (- Hood Feminism, Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot)
In this interview series we have brought to light the views of women of color regarding, colorism, micro-aggressions, health care, financial literacy, protection and agency.
This Q&A and collaborative writers live cast, lead by interviewers Tianna Andrea Boswell and Tushiya Hunter was previously recorded last year, of March 2020. During this period our nation dealt with a pandemic, social justice unrest, protests and a presidential election. It was a tough time for many of us but in particular black and brown people. Tushiya and I decided that it was important to understand the narrative of black women and women of color. What concerns they have beard, how they have felt, what they hoped for the state of the world as well as their futures.
Tushiya and I came together to craft questions that come up during many kitchen tables talks. The focus and point of this piece was and will always be to give platforms to creatives to speak their truth.
The intention of this piece is to bridge the gap for understanding amongst differences through open dialogue. An offering of safe space to discuss social experiences, issues, and topics while honoring personal perspectives.
Below are five women we interviewed separately, to discuss their thoughts and offer an opportunity to share their testaments.
